EmPowering you

You can draw on our team as an extension of yours at any time for support and guidance. We work with you to determine the level of support you need. The Business Development team is led by Mick Hegan, your dedicated partner, who is supported by a Business Development officer and the Member Services team. From the basics of signing up a new employee to talking you through legislative requirements, we can help you.

To keep you informed, Mick and the team develop employer reports that provide insights into Fund developments, online resources and benefits offered to your employees. We also develop tailored reports that give you an overview of activity related to your employees, such as the types of calls received by the Fund, insurance cover levels and worksite engagement with planners – overall, this information can contribute to employee education programs and ongoing development of employment benefits.

The EmPower program supports your business in a number of ways, including:

  • enquiry support through a team of knowledgeable service representatives available to help with all things super-related means you get personal support whenever you need it
  • dedicated employer section on our website keeps you up to date on legislative changes and super obligations
  • provision of super content and support for your intranet site
  • access to health and wellbeing programs that can lead to productivity improvements for your business and less absenteeism.

Whatever your employment arrangements, there’s a membership category to suit you. We cater for all maritime occupations, with categories developed specifically for seafaring and stevedoring employees.

To ensure you meet your super obligations, we’re set up as a MySuper authorised fund, which means we’ve already done all the hard work for you. Maritime Super meets the regulated minimum standards for fees and costs, investment options, insurance and member communications and also offers a range of investment and insurance options that give members flexibility and choice.

To help you comply with SuperStream standards, our Clearing House lets you make all your super contributions in a single transaction through an efficient electronic process and is tailored to meet specific requirements (for example, allowance for an insurance levy).

You’re set to go straight away, with flexible contribution payment options that support a variety of payroll practices – there are no hassles and no administration fees or charges.

You have the opportunity to network with other industry employers, meet new contacts or discuss common issues through events that we organise or our association with the Maritime Industry Australia Ltd (MIAL). We also invite employers to key super industry luncheons for insights on the legislative landscape. Our annual charity golf day, in support of Hunterlink National, which is widely attended by industry employers and always a successful event.

EmPowering your employees

The program ensures a schedule of regular worksite visits to provide your employees with education and the opportunity to address any burning questions, and relieve your internal staff from super-related enquiries. Our experience at worksite visits is rewarding, as we often meet with members who have ‘been meaning to call us and never got around to it' – being onsite provides that extra level of service that helps members get on the right track.

Your employees can get financial advice, without even leaving the worksite, through our financial planners who can come to you and help your employees make the most of their super. There’s also a free phone advice service regarding super contributions and investment choice.

Not everyone is equipped or qualified to help with super questions, but our Member Services team is, and they’re very knowledgeable and friendly. Through our toll-free number, your employees can receive expert help and assistance over the phone. Our team can answer all types of super questions and ensure that your employees understand all the benefits available to them.

We provide education and support for members to value the superannuation benefit provided by you. Members have access to regular communications and engaging online educational resources, including digital annual statements, a suite of calculators, interactive annual report, mobile-friendly login, website, and more. There’s help and guidance for members at every life stage.

Research confirms that healthy, happy people are more likely to be productive employees. Your employees are supported through two key organisations we work with:

  • SuperFriend which provides educational resources on mental wellbeing; and
  • Hunterlink which provides counselling for people with mental health and addiction issues.

As members, your employees have access to a broad range of super and retirement products to suit their needs, including flexible contribution options, a range of investment options, and customised insurance arrangements.
